Default Rep. John Murtha dies at age 77

I am going to take the high road on this story, and bless Rep. Murtha and his family. Murtha was a Marine Corps Combat Veteran, and I appreciate his distinguished service. However, I did not agree with much of his Congressional service. I despise many of his comments.

A short blurb about his service.. "Murtha enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952 and became a drill instructor at Parris Island. He served in Korea and received a Bronze Star and Two Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam. He continued to be a member of the Marine Corps Reserves until he resigned as a colonel in 1990."

Sorry I can share the sentiment. The man undermined the troops and let us not forget that Murtha was a figure in Abscam and came very close to going to jail. We would have been better off if he had.

Here is the FBI tape. You can see what a charming fellow he really was.

Political correctness is killing our country. I'm glad he's gone, just like I rejoiced when Ted Kennedy went to face his hereafter.

Gopguy,

I watched your video. Pretty enlightening. The guy was a scumbag.

Anyone know how PA handles replacements in this situation?

Big time crook. The FBI was real close to trying to prosecute him, but he left himself just enough wiggle room... He may have served well in the marines, but like Benedict Arnold who also served well, lost a leg in service to the country, something went seriously wrong with the guy. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

At this late date they have time to quickly circulate petitions and run somebody, not sure if the Governor will make a temporary appointment.
