They are loud....VERY LOUD......fun....but not overly practical. If you were going to SBR it and pay the NFA tax stamps i'd say go for it.

AMEN...I have had two Carbon 15 pistols, very similar type of 'pistol' and they were totally useless for anything except making a huge fireball and noise at the range. If a SBR is in your future, it's a ready made solution, but otherwise I don't see the use.

Another had one and sold it here. The Carbon 15 pistol was however useful for lighting up the backyard in low light conditions to see what was lurking... Scaring the bejezzus out of anything that was out there.
![]() Very good hearing protection was necessary. Also when firing in low light conditions you had that blue dot effect of a blind spot for a few minutes. Reminded me of when I was a kid and those super bright flash bulbs of the day. Short barrels are better for pistol caliber arms. |

good hearing protection is a must...I used both plugs and muffs when I had the carbon 15....traded it for my IMI Model A Uzi...one of my top two trades of the year.

I've heard they have had your general run of the mill rommy problems. Cool factor is def. there, and for probably the lowest price you'll ever see them at again, I could be wrong, but thats what I think.
For home defense, eh? it's the 7.62... probably way more power than you need for close quarters combat. Although I was watching the special forces from kazahkastan? sorry if I mispelled it but they were using SBR'd AK's as their rifles. I hate to say it but in the pistol'd area of things I kind of like the AR, a buddy of mine has a nice pistol'd AR that he got from a sherriff, the sherriff used it as his "passenger seat gun". I figured, I don't why, that the recoil and the managability of the AR would change as the size changed, I was wrong. I didn't notice a difference between his pistol'd AR and a regular AR until it got dark. His pistol'd AR shoots 2 foot flames and has some serious concussion but it's all in front of the gun. To sum up, I love both, the AK pistol is more affordable than the AR pistol I shot by about 500$. Home defense, if you want? But if it's capacity is what you want just about every polymer gun company+sig has extended magazines for pistols. Which would offer more than enough protection. I haven't tried extended extended(over 30) in any gun but a glock 19, but the 33 round magazine functioned 100 percent out of the box, and every time I took it to the range, so they can be reliable. |

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I really wanted one last week because of the "cool factor" I just "had to have one" but after thinking about it I figured it really would have no purpose in my life except for perhaps an extra large concealed carry weapon that I would never need unless I was attacked by the mafia...
