Default Holloway HAC-7 7.62mm NATO

Here is another set from the vaults that are scarce. The Holloway HAC-7 was designed by Major Robert Holloway and built down in Ft. Worth Texas in 1984. The rifle borrowed from some other designs, the relationship to the FN-FAL was pretty obvious, and it used modified AR-10 waffle magazines. Left and right hand models were made and you had the option of rifle or carbine. The guns came packaged in a box with a belt buckle numbered to the gun. A special order knife numbered to the gun was also available, but few sold. Despite a heavy advertising campaign in magazines like SWAT and the 1984 edition of Guns & Ammo's Assault Rifles, the company did not last long. According to Tom Holloway less than 350 guns were completed before the company closed its doors in 1985. Bob Holloway put that number at 280 completed. Pity as it was an interesting design, though I have found some internal parts a bit too soft for serious use.

Here you see two of the rifles with a box and the belt buckle. Also some photo copies of ads and a blue factory brochure folder that held sales information for stocking dealers. My doctor, who is also a collector, has a stone mint left hand carbine in his collection. Around 50 left hand guns were made.

Simply fantastic. I'd ask for a range report, but I'm guessing due to their rareness that it isn't fired anymore. Pity.

Fired them when I first got them...but there again Ronald Reagan was still in the White House then. Yeah, sadly retired now... We have plenty of other 7.62X51mm rifles to shoot though. I will eventually get more of those up. I love the FN FAL and have a few nice ones and clones.

I thought it looked like it was heavily influenced by the FN-FAL. Love to see some pics of the internals if you got them. I love FN-FALS. Its on my must buy list, as soon as I can get the money.

If I was fabrique Nationale i'd probably sued this man. I suppose you can only go someone directions with firearms though, regardless it is another interesting piece.

On a side note I was watching a special on history about Isreal weaponary, it's evolution and when/how it was used. They were talking so much smack about FN FAL, and of course playing up the critical role of the UZI.

It was interesting to say the least. Anything that comes with a belt buckle should automatically be considered a great gun IMO.

So between you and your doctor, you guys have 3 out of 280? How many rare guns are you guys hiding in Ohio?

There are some shots of the internals on the link I provided for biggerhammer, just hit the photo section.

While the outline is close the internals are somewhat different. The bolt carrier has the gas piston attached like an AK.

This will kill you. About 15 years ago I sold one, it was pretty rough...

As far as how many, we try to get em all. Years ago on another forum I read a thread where a guy in Canada got one for a bottle of booze... I kid you not...

In fact digging I found the thread. lol

That hurts me. I've got a good deal on one gun in my life and I got it 200$ less than what it would sell for, and 350$ what it retailed for... and I was happier than all get out. That man basically just won the lottery...

And they say us Irish will do anything for a bottle a booze...at least we have some self respect...unlike those hozers up in Canadia...they'll do anything for jelly donut, a Molson or a cup of Tim Hortons....knobs

I must say in all my years of collecting, I have never swapped a bottle of booze for a gun. However after reading that blurb nearly eight years ago, we did stock our bar a bit with stuff we would not mind trading and have hoped for the opportunity to arise. Sadly the bottles are dusty. Perhaps it is because I only have one friend from Canada...

It does surprise me how inexpensive guns are up there. He calls occasionally to tell me what he has found...however there are many more hoops to jump through to get them.

In coming days I will be pulling another rabbit from the hat and will talk about something that came down from Canada, made it through Customs somehow. Perfectly legal there, but not here, and how it drove me and some friends nuts that we could not have it.

I have family and a few friends in Canada that I haven't seen in over a decade, I actually lived outside of Toronto for a few months many many years ago....I really enjoyed the time but poke fun of Canadians in good harmless fun...more of an inside joke kinda thing. I really have to hatred of those sneaky bastards to the north....

I can honestly say I've never heard, seen or read about the Holloway rifle. Just curious...what's the estimated value if you don't mind answering.
