Question Very hard to open bolt Mosin Nagant

Hey guys,

bought a MN 1943 Tula month ago, it's the refurbished model with matching numbers.

I completely disassembled the rifle, every part I put into boiling water and cleaned the cosmoline, immediately after soaked it in alcohol to prevent rust.
Adjusted the firing pin and checked the headspace (really tight)

On thursday it was my first time shooting the rifle, bought some new russian FMJ lacquered ammo, bolt was very easy to open, but after shooting about 20 rounds, the rifle got hot and I think the lacquer melted and caused the shell to stick so it got harder to open, at one point I had to put it on the desk and push down hard to open the bolt. Cleaned the rifle..
Yesterday I went to buy some Chinese 1955 Brass ammo. At the range today every shot was extremely hard to open the bolt, had to really slam it with my palm, shot about 45 rounds, every extraction was the same, had to slam it open.

Any ideas what it could be? Every shell has this scratch after shooting, also after shooting today there was some brass dust in the chamber.

I don't shoot any of the laquer coated ammo in any of my guns anymore. You have to really use some tough solvent and a brass brush to get that "baked on" laquer out of there.

Oddly enough, I have been shooting the Tula 7.62x54r in mine, and have been getting some good results.

thanks for your reply, there is definitely some lacquer now mixed with brass in the chamber, because now it won't chamber a round, will try to polish the chamber tomorrow

Yeah, the Tula gets a bad rap in .223 and such, don't really know why, but their Mosin ammo is pretty good stuff actually....and it has no coating on the steel that I can tell.
