Default Anyone into the older school black rifle?

I haven't posted much in a while...but I am still actively playing. I started to turn back the clock a bit....

Is the fixed stock bakelite? Not gonna lie, I like my Blackberry and wouldn't trade it for any other phone.

the fixed stock is a m16a1 stock...fiberglass of some sort I am guessing. Surplus from Sarco. I hated my BB too haha...I actually love my iphone. I can't stand when electronics won't cooperate however

There is something special about the economy "simplicity" of the old AR's.

I have a SP1 that I believe is a '70 model, and my go to CAR is fairly old as well. What amazes me is how we can go from a 6.5lbs rifle to 10lbs of weight and dangle.
I want to build a "shorty" with a chopped stock. But the only stock I've found was $100 and it was very, very rough.

This is the type of shorty I was talking about. It is a Colt 607, the stock looks like a chopped A1 stock but it was collapseable

http://www.dogfightink.com/model607_10x24.jpg

Rock Island has a modern version called an "entry " stock, but being RI it's spendy.

I'm all ears on the barrel tho, my CAR is in 7.62x39. I would welcome another (yes, another) upper for my CAR lower.

I posted photos of its second variation a while back. Originally it was a Colt CAR Sporter with the narrow round handguards and 3 position aluminum stock. I modified it to look like a 933 of Blackhawk down Era, but I have since updated to a modernized MSR.
