Default Russian (IMEZ) Makarov - Got A Good Deal

Checking the local pawn shops today and came across this Russian / IMEZ Makarov IJ70-18A. At $200 asking with two mags and holster it was just too much for me to resist. It appears to be in very good condition with only minor holster wear along the edges of the slide. What I'd like to know is if there is any way I can know the year of manufacture from the serial number. As in the photo the serial number is A OT0247 though the "A" appears to be a Russian character rather than a legit "A".

That's not a bad price, my father-in-law got his for around $185 10-15 years ago.

You did very well at $200. A retail chain store nearby is selling the Polish Radom P64 surplus 9x18 Mak. for $280 with 2 mags. but no holster.

Great price on a very nice pistol. Looking forward to reading about how well it shoots...I suspect you'll really enjoy it!
